2013 VERMONT QSO PARTY RESULTS

OUTSIDE VERMONT COMPETITION

With 65 logs submitted from all over the world, the competition outside of Vermont was hot! Granted, this wasn't about working pileups. The most successful stations spent time carefully tuning the bands looking for the elusive Vermont stations. Some Vermont stations were easy to find and they showed up in many logs. But some Vermont stations only appeared for a short time, and it was the patient (and lucky) operator who found them, and perhaps picked up a county or club multiplier.

When the dust had settled, Frank WA6KHK from California ended up on top with 528 points, with 12 phone and 6 cw contacts from Vermont, both totals very impressive. Ken KS4X from Tennessee grabbed second place with 336 points as he worked 14 Vermont phone stations while running QRP! And Stan W8NNX from Florida took third place with 240 points as he worked 15 stations on low power phone. A total of nine stations qualified for a certicate either by placing or by working 10 Vermont stations.

Participation from outside Vermont was significantly higher. No matter where you ended up in the scoring, we hope you all had a great time. Ultimately, it's not the score, but instead the experience and memories of the event which are most important. We hope to have you all back next year and promise to increase the number of Vermont stations for you to work.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I would like to thank the Central Vermont Amateur Radio Club for the opportunity to run the Vermont QSO Party this year. Administration of the Party is passed around the various Vermont clubs every two years. Thank you to the Radio Amateurs of Northern Vermont for their support as this year’s (and last year’s) sponsor. And finally, thank you to all of you who participated. We will see you all next year as the Vermont QSO Party will be better than ever!
